Classification of brass plate
(1) lead brass
The density of lead is insoluble in brass, so it is distributed on the grain boundary as a free particle. Lead brass has α and (α+β) two kinds, α lead brass is affected by lead, so the high temperature plasticity is very low, can only use cold deformation or hot extrusion. And (α+β) lead brass has strong plasticity at high temperature and can be forged.
(2) tin brass
In order to improve the heat resistance of the alloy, the addition of tin can effectively improve, especially the resistance to seawater corrosion.
At the same time, tin can be dissolved into liquid copper to achieve solid solution and strengthening. However, the increase of tin content is not conducive to the plastic deformation of the alloy, so the tin content of tin brass can be controlled in 0.5% ~ 1.5%.
(3) the manganese brass
Manganese has a high solubility in solid brass, so adding 1% ~ 4% manganese without reducing thermoplasticity can effectively improve the strength and corrosion resistance of the alloy. Manganese brass has (α+β) structure, and HMN58-2 is commonly used. It has good performance in hot and cold conditions.
(4) iron brass
As a crystal core, iron can refine the grains and prevent the recrystallized grains from growing, so as to improve the mechanical and technological properties of the alloy. Usually the iron content is controlled below 1.5% effect is the best, iron brass has a structure of (α+β), with high strength and toughness, high temperature plasticity is good, cold state can also be deformed.
