What are the differences between beryllium bronze and tin bronze
Tin bronze The copper-based alloy with tin as the main alloying element is called tin bronze. The tin bronze used in industry is mostly between 3% and 14%. Tin bronze with a tin content of less than 5% is suitable for cold working; tin bronze with a tin content of 5% to 7% is suitable for hot working; tin bronze with a tin content of more than 10% is suitable for casting. Tin bronze is widely used in shipbuilding, chemical industry, machinery, instrumentation and other industries. It is mainly used to manufacture bearings, bushings and other wear-resistant parts, springs and other elastic components, as well as anti-corrosion and anti-magnetic parts, etc.
Beryllium bronze A copper alloy with beryllium as the basic element is called beryllium bronze. The beryllium content of beryllium bronze is 1.7%~2.5%. The elastic limit and fatigue limit of beryllium bronze are very high, the wear resistance and corrosion resistance are excellent, it has good electrical and thermal conductivity, and it is non-magnetic and impact-resistant. It does not produce sparks and other advantages. Beryllium bronze is mainly used to make important springs for precision instruments, watch gears, bearings and bushes that work under high speed and high pressure, as well as welding machine electrodes, explosion-proof tools, navigation compasses and other important parts.
A bronze with beryllium as the main alloy component. It contains 1.7-2.5% beryllium and a small amount of nickel, chromium, titanium and other elements. After quenching and aging treatment, the strength limit can reach 1250-1500MPa, which is close to the level of medium-strength steel. In the quenched state, it has good plasticity and can be processed into various semi-finished products. Beryllium bronze has high hardness, elastic limit, fatigue limit and wear resistance. It also has good corrosion resistance, thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity. It does not produce sparks when impacted. It is widely used as important elastic components and wear-resistant parts. And explosion-proof tools, etc. Commonly used grades are QBe2, QBe2.5, QBe1.7, QBe1.9, etc.
Tin bronze is a non-ferrous metal alloy with the smallest casting shrinkage rate. It is used to produce castings with complex shapes, clear contours and low air tightness requirements. Tin bronze is very resistant to corrosion in the atmosphere, sea water, fresh water and steam, and is widely used in steam boilers and marine ship parts. Phosphorus-containing tin bronze has good mechanical properties and can be used as wear-resistant parts and elastic parts of high-precision machine tools. Leaded tin bronze is often used as wear-resistant parts and sliding bearings. Zinc-tin bronze can be used as high-airtight castings.
Tin bronze is the most widely used and used in the electrical and electronic industries, accounting for more than half of the total consumption. Used in various cables and wires, motors and transformers, switches, and printed circuit boards. In the manufacture of machinery and transportation vehicles, it is used to manufacture industrial valves and fittings, meters, sliding bearings, molds, heat exchangers, and pumps. It is widely used in the chemical industry to manufacture vacuum vessels, distillation pots, brewing pots, etc. In the defense industry, it is used to manufacture bullets, shells, gun parts, etc. For every 3 million bullets produced, 130-140 tons of copper are needed. In the construction industry, it is used as various pipes, pipe fittings, decorative devices, etc.
