Lead is not solid-soluble in bronze, but exists as a pure component. It appears as black inclusions distributed between dendrites, which can improve cutting and wear resistance. When the lead content is low (such as 1~2%), it mainly improves the machinability. When the lead content is high (4~5%), it is used as a bearing material to reduce the friction coefficient. Therefore, tin-lead bronze is used to make corrosion-resistant, wear-resistant, free-cutting parts or parts such as shaft sleeves and bearing linings. A small amount of zr, b, ti can refine the crystal grains and improve the mechanical properties and hot and cold processing properties of tin bronze. As, sb, and bi reduce the plasticity of tin bronze and are harmful to the hot and cold workability.
